Campaign Issues
When it comes to issues, I never take a two-dimensional approach because we don't live in a two-dimensional world. Instead, I like to consider the various communities that make Fort Collins the nicest place to live.

Whether you care about the environment, teachers & public education, are part of the BIPOC community, are a parent or are a proud pet parent, a small business owner, working class or middle class, a veteran or a senior or LGBTQ+ or disabled or even autistic like me - I'm thinking about how policy impacts everyone - not just a privileged few.

Safe, Affordable Neighborhoods
As a District 1 Councilmember, here are some of the things I'd advocate for:

-
Improved pedestrian and bike crossings, speed bumps in neighborhoods, sidewalks, and other infrastructure to keep our children safe - especially in NE Fort Collins where infrastructure is nonexistent or scarce
-
Supporting seniors through community services such as Meals on Wheels, accessible housing, and for collaborative 55+ communities to ensure that our seniors are able to age with dignity, community, and security while on a fixed income
-
More resources and supports for veterans to address issues specific to this population, such as unemployment, suicide, homelessness, and lack of community
-
Working with community leaders to create an affordable housing low-interest loan revolving fund so that first-time home buyers can have a chance at the American dream - via the Community Capital Improvement Program -
-
Advocating for Tiny Home communities as an eco-friendly option to provide more affordable housing
-
Strengthening our partnerships with PSD to improve graduation outcomes (currently at 88%) and thriving wages for our teachers
-
Ensuring our Hispanic communities and others living in mobile home parks have clean, safe water to drink, food security, and the resources needed so they can better advocate for their needs and loved ones
-
Collaborating with nonprofits like L'Arche to help create living communities for neurodivergent adults with disabilities so they can live with independence and support

Water Conservation & A Clean Poudre River
As a District 1 Councilmember, here are some of the things I'd advocate for:

-
The continuation of working with CSU's Colorado Water Center to improve water conservation and water quality outcomes throughout the City
-
Ensuring that our beloved Poudre River is free of pollutants and metal debris, and that her shores are absent of trash or hazards like needles or bodily fluids
-
Continue to find opportunities for community gardens in addition to those established in order to promote not only community collaboration and food security, but decreased water usage where possible
-
Educating about the residential and commercial xeriscaping programs the City offers for those who have the ability to change their grass lawns to drought-resistant gardens - such as the rebates that go with those programs!
-
Supporting the continuation of the Halligan Water Project, which will secure Fort Collins water supply for the next 50 years once completed!

Small Businesses & Local Economy
As a District 1 Councilmember, here are some of the things I'd advocate for:

-
An established revolving grant or loan program so that small business owners can receive assistance when they need it most - whether in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce or the Economic Health Office
-
Working with the Multicultural Business and Entrepreneur Center and bringing awareness of minority-owned businesses and the struggles their local economies face, as many of those businesses were so severely impacted by COVID that they are still recovering
-
Creating more opportunities for marginalized communities to gain sustainable economic power through entrepreneurship
-
Advocating for increased Americans with Disabilities (ADA) parking in Old Town and improved compliance and accessibility in the infrastructure
-
Reevaluate the trash service Republic contract and its continuous opt-out fees that increase costs for everyday people without negatively impacting the workers from the previously named Gallegos company
