Hey, I'm Daisy!

I am humbled to be considered for the chance to earn your vote this November for City Council, District 1!
I have lived in Fort Collins for 7 years with my disabled Army veteran husband, son, and our 3 cats and 1 puppy named Chomper Chumley!
I grew up in a veteran working-class family, so I know the struggle of not knowing if you have 20 extra dollars in your budget to send your kids on a field trip.
Or if there is going to be enough money to buy groceries to last you until payday.
Those experiences left an indelible mark on me as a kid and informs how I connect and lead today.
Some (of the Many!) Things That Matter to Me
-
Empowering the Working Class and Middle Class, the backbone of our country!
-
Supporting historically marginalized communities with opportunities to gain economic power, such as the disabled, veteran, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ communities
-
Fiscal responsibility that reflects the will of the people and community goals
-
Accessibility: it's not just for disabled people! Accessibility means that healthcare, food security, education, housing, nature, transit, employment & economic power, and more should be attainable for anyone, regardless of socio-economic class, disability, race, ethnicity, sex, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or any other protected class. I firmly believe that if you contribute to the Fort Collins community and economy, living here should be an accessible and attainable choice. You shouldn't have to been generationally wealthy to live in a place you love!
-
Women's rights, disability rights, LGBTQ+ rights
-
Improving District 1 Infrastructure so that children can be safe riding their bikes, people have transit options to get to work, and people of all mobility experiences can enjoy their community, and improving technology so no matter where in District 1 you live, you feel connected to everyone in Fort Collins
-
Preserving our Natural Areas, addressing the needs of our growing city while minimizing environmental impact, 15-minute city connectivity via trails for lessening car dependency for those that are able
-
Supporting seniors who may feel like society has left them behind when they need help the most
-
Combating misinformation around health (including vaccine safety) by forming strategic partnerships with local health nonprofits and organizations
\ -
Partnering with PSD to ensure our students continue to receive the education they deserve in light of Department of Education defunding, including Integrated services for disabled students, and giving support to caregivers
-
Small business development and local economy as our community faces federal layoffs, tariffs, and funding freezes across critical programs ranging from healthcare to housing to agriculture
-
Including men in solution-oriented discussions around social progress instead of shunning them from the process - everyone needs to be included if we want to create a better America for all!
My work in the disability advocacy community, as well as my time supporting our military during my career in technical federal program management has given me the technical and soft skills to manage large fiscal responsibilities while also building bridges between stakeholders so everyone feels a part of creating solutions that benefit all.
Now as a small business owner of Autistics Anonymous, I'm dedicated to making a difference in the autistic community by donating adaptive equipment and school supplies so teachers don't have to pay out of their own pockets.
Bottom line - I don't talk about leading from the front. I do it.
If you vote for me, you can count on me bringing a strong, proven voice of advocacy so that you can feel confident that what matters to you, matters to me, too.
